Start Failing Now! Why Its important to fail?
Start failing right now!! What are you saying Jagan?
Start Failing? This probably sounds a little weird. Most people don’t tell you to fail, but I want you to fail sooner then later. You see, you will never learn to succeed if you don’t fail. Some people get lucky and get it right from the beginning, but for most of us this isn’t the case.
Of course you have all the guru’s telling you that you don’t need to fail and if you buy their course you can skip all the hard stuff they had to learn because they will hold your hand through the process. I call BS!!
I’ve failed more times then I’ve succeeded. I still fail weekly and sometimes daily. My motto is I will fail my way to success. I would have never gotten to where I am today if I just gave up and quit when things didn’t work the way I planned them.
I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.~~Thomas Edison
This is one of my favorite quotes because it’s completely true. Success is only for people who are willing to stick through the tough times and see their vision through to the end until they reach their goal.
I’ve failed my way to success. I remembered times I would be sitting in my room at 1am in the morning trying to fight the urge of falling asleep because I just worked 12hrs at my day job.
I knew I had to force myself to stay up and learn how to do the basics of Internet marketing and figure out how I could make money online.
I remember being so frustrated I was crying because I felt like nothing was working. I was poring everything I had into learning and taking action by building the websites and yet I wasn’t making any money.
I wanted to give up, but I’m glad I didn’t. I kept pushing on and focusing on how to make my adsense and affiliate sites make some money. I knew if I could just get them to make $100 bucks in a month I would be hooked and I could scale things up.
I lost a lot of sleep and went to work tired every day, but I was determined to keep messing things up until I figured out how to make things work.
When I started my offline consulting business I failed more times then I can count. I sold myself short, promised to much, acquired tons of clients I hated, and barely broke even in the beginning. I was ready to give up and at one point I did.
I was making good money, almost enough to quit my job. I had a personal problem with my ex girlfriend and I was depressed and basically said screw it. I let the business slip through my fingers and lost everything I worked so hard to create.
After I got over my depression and feeling sorry for myself I went at it a second time harder then I did when I started. I built the business back rather quickly and did it right this time around.
I learned from my mistakes and I only took on clients who wanted my help and would pay me what I’m worth. This time I actually enjoyed helping business owners.
I failed when I started my own agency in 2017. You would think I learned from my mistakes with the offline consulting business, but I’m an idiot so I didn’t. Once again I took on cheap clients who wanted way to much work for a low price.
These clients were picky, created tons of problems, and ended up requesting so many changes I was having headaches daily from the stress. It was so bad I was depressed, and both me and my business partner hated it and wanted to quit.
I was so angry and depressed I took a full two weeks off from doing anything. I didn’t care if the business went under and we lost money, I just needed a break. I even considered just calling it quits and heading back to the some day job just focus on building my offline consulting business bigger later.
Once I cleared my head and analyzed the problem it was easy to figure out the solution. I needed to find offline marketers who needed a reliable outsourcing team to keep their costs down and keep their customers happy.
Now people are paying us good money because they know we provide top notch work and we get things done on time. People even come to us from referrals because they heard we do good work for their friends.
Failing isn’t a bad thing as long as you learn from your mistakes. The problem is most people just look at it as a failure and give up without analyzing what the solution to their problem is.
Most of the time people give up right before they would succeed. Sometimes it’s something so small you can’t believe you didn’t figure it out the first time.
Learn from your mistakes and don’t be so attached to something that you can’t walk away or change something if you have to. I’ve had to walk away from projects I was emotionally attached to.
I wanted things to work out so bad, but it was pulling me away from my real money makers so I had to cut my losses. Sometimes your mistakes can be holding on to a project that will never make a dime.
Don’t let your failures get you down and always keep your ego in check. Learn to analyze why you’re failing and come up with solutions to fix the problems.
I’ve not only grown as a marketer, but as a person by learning how to face my problems head on and figure out how to fix the problem. Start failing now so you can figure out what you have to do in order to succeed.
