20 Tips I Wish I Knew When I Started Online
I started my journey with Internet Marketing about 7 years ago.
That’s been just a journey of learning and feeding my curiosity.
I never got to the part of taking any action.
Well until i started this blog in June 2020
For the first several years i had no idea what i wanted to do
The real hard truth about Entrepreneurship.
It is Brutal
You need to be on the move to make things go forward and work around glass walls and obstacles.
I’m going to share 20 of the lessons and tips I wish I knew when I started.
1.) The right time is NOW.
When I talk to a lot of people they will say “man I wish I started when you did”.
I said the same things when I started 7 years ago and I would hear the stories of how cheap and easy it was to setup Google Adwords ads and get rich with very little effort.
The internet changes fast and the best piece of advice I can give you is to get in and get your piece of the pie. When I find something that works well I go hard and make all the money I can.
I don’t spend my time thinking how I wish it was easier or how I would have started my business earlier.
There will always be a million ways to make a million dollars a year. That makes me rest easy
2) Think less, do more.
This industry can change very fast as mentioned above. Don’t sit on the fence and watch others jump in and reap the rewards.
You need to practice acting fast and thinking later.
I’m all about strategic thinking, but sometimes you just have to trust your gut and run with it.
I used to think everything through(what will I blog about today, will people like this, if I launch this product will it sell, what if I do this and it doesn’t work).
Jump in now, get feedback, and fix things as you go.
I think less and take a lot more action on my ideas.
3)Learn When to say NO
In the early years as an Entrepreneur, it is very easy to try and do something out until the very end. Know when to quit something.
Remember your time is the most precious commodity and it’s not coming back. So be super clear on what your end goal is and work towards that.
4.) Take BIG risks.
As the saying goes the bigger the risk the bigger the reward
Some of my best pay off’s in this industry have been taking massive risks that I had no clue if they would pay off.
I hate living with regrets so I would rather take a big risk that can pay off over playing small and regretting I didn’t just go for it.
5.) Save your money and reinvest in your business.
One of the biggest mistakes I see people make is getting a little success and going out and buying a nice house, fancy car and living well beyond their means.
One year later you wonder what happened to that “one guy”.
Smart entrepreneurs put off instant gratification to build their business so by the time they buy the toys it doesn’t even make them flench.
A business takes money and time and if you want to build a real business that isn’t based on a loophole(one method, one traffic source or a system) then reinvest your profits into your business, training, and coaching.
Investing in your business is the best investment you will ever make.
6.)Promote products and businesses you believe in.
When I first started I got caught up in promoting just about anything I could find to make money online.
I thought this was how you’re supposed to do it because that’s what I was taught.
I later realized I would make a lot more money when I promoted products I truly believed in and could get behind.
Now I only promote products and know will help the people who trust me.
It’s always more profitable to do the right thing.
7) Work hard and be proud of it.
No one wants to work endless hours their whole life that’s why they want to quit their job.
However when you first start building your business be willing to hustle your butt off to build momentum.
The more love and time you put into your business the faster you will reach your goals.
All the products in this industry push working two hours a week, drinking on the beach, and living the laptop lifestyle.
As nice as that sounds I know personally when I don’t feel like I’m moving my life and business in a positive direction I feel depressed.
I’m not saying you need to work 15 hour days seven days a week and ignore your family.
What I’m saying is be willing to work hard just like you would for your boss at a job.
This is your business and if you treat it like a real business and you can see the big pay off in the future you will create a lifestyle that most people wish they could have.
Successful people are willing to work hard and do what it takes to reach their goals.
8.) Don’t care what other people think.
When I first started I was worried about what people thought about me.
What if people laugh at me, what if other marketers judge me, what if I piss someone off, what if they don’t like me……Now I don’t care.
If someone says something bad about me I don’t let it bother me.
People’s opinions don’t pay your bills and spending your energy letting one person’s opinion stop you is foolish.
9.) Don’t compare yourself to others.
Comparing yourself to other marketers is a good way to hold yourself back.
When I first started I would look at people making money online and say “man I wish I could do that.”
When I started making money I would look at marketers with three years more experience and say “Man I can’t wait to get to that level.”
This is a bad habit to get into becomes it makes you feel inferior.
Focus your energy on getting better and besting your best.
I no longer pay attention to what other people do and I focus daily on moving my business forward.
When I changed my focus I got much better results.
10.) Focus on one thing at a time.
Multitasking is for the broke and I truly believe that.
Focus on one traffic source, one product or business, and one skill at a time.
The best marketers get good at one thing at a time.
When you’re laser-focused on scaling one aspect of your business at a time you end up doing it better than anyone else.
Most people try 5 traffic sources at one time and do all of them half ass’d.
Master one skill at a time and you will have very little competition.
11.) Get a coach sooner.
When I first started I was cheap, wanted to invest as little money as possible and do everything free.
Now whatever I want to learn I get a coach to fast track my success.
I go into a new traffic source or want to learn a new skill I get a coach.
Why struggle for months when I can jump straight in and learn how to do it right.
As I said before this is your business and investing in your business will make you a lot of money in return.
I would recommend Zach Crawford as your coach.
He is one of the best in terms of telling you what you need to do and is all about actionable tasks and not just video and training lesson.

12.) Recharge Yourself with breaks and time off
I work a lot because I have big goals and want to create a multi-million dollar business, but no one can hustle non-stop forever.
Take time to spend with your family, take a vacation, spend time doing something you love, read or anything to unplug.
I’ve had times I would just be hitting mental blocks for weeks and I thought I could power my way through them.
I would eventually get frustrated and just take a couple of days off and I would come back refreshed and figure out the problem because I was thinking clearly.
Sometimes you just have to take time off to enjoy life.
Business is a long term thing, not a get rich overnight thing so enjoy the process.
13) Don't be afraid of Failure and redefine your failures
When you are starting out, it looks like you are the only one who is failing.
When I joined a community of students to which my coach had invited me I was this guy who would feel like the only one who was failing at things which I tried.
When I shared this to my surprise I found that all other members did pass through that phase and some were still failing and making mistakes every single day.
I realized it was simply a part of the job. Better fail than never to try.
Having others open up and relate to this made me feel a lot better and this was the first thing that has made me take action on how to redefine failures.
So every time I failed I took an action to make it better and make things work. if it does not.. work on a different approach.
14.) Stand out from the others.
Be yourself, be weird, and stand out.
Don’t try to copy everything other people do. You can never be me and I can never be you.
When most people tell you one thing then you do the other way.
My favorite concept is modeling successful people, but not copying them.
Add your flare to your content and your approach in your business.
15.) Create good habits.
One of the best things I’ve ever done is to create habits in my business and life.
Almost every day I do the same things.
If I’m sad, happy, depressed I do the same things like clockwork.
I used to be all over the place and had no schedule so when I had a bad day I got very little done because I had no routine.
Now even if I have a bad day I just follow my daily routine and I’m still productive and get things done.
I try to make my life so routine I don’t have to worry about what I will wear, what I will eat today or what I will do in my business.
I learned this from a few of my mentors.
Creating successful habits will allow you to get more done and be twice as productive as everyone else.
Most people’s lives are an absolute mess with no routine or order.
Most of your building an online business is getting your mind organized.
You need to create a routine that would get you to your desired result.
16) Remain humble.
You can make a lot of money on internet marketing and some people lose their way once they make the money.
Part of the process of making money online is learning how to actually accept it and balance it.
Money doesn’t make you better than anyone and karma have a way of knocking people on their butt.
Remain humble and treat people with respect if you want to be in this business for the long term.
17) Save Money for Taxes
For most new Entrepreneurs this tip boggles them. Why save money to pay taxes? I could use the same to improve my business and I should be able to pay them later.
When you lag behind on your taxes they hound on you and you don’t want to create this habit which is bad for building any business.
18.) Have fun.
I think this is obvious but enjoy the process.
Don’t beat yourself up when you have bad days. You will have ups and down’s in this business.
It’s easy to get caught up thinking once you make a lot of money your problems and stress will be gone.
When I started making a lot of money I had to learn how to balance the stress, employees, expenses, taxes and everything else that goes with business.
The more you enjoy building your business, learning new skills, inject your personality into your business and try new ideas that excite you the easier and more enjoyable the journey will be.
Don’t take life and business so serious you’re miserable building your business.
19) Learn to build Leads Quickly
Your business is based on your customers so learning to get your customers fast should be your top priority.
Taking massive action to get skills is very important to build a sustainable business.
This brings to one more key point. Focus
So focus on one product or one skill which would get you closer to the result which you want
20.) Appreciate how far you’ve come.
The final lesson is to appreciate your accomplishments.
Something I’ve learned over time is to celebrate my small victories so I’m excited to go after my bigger goals.
Learn a new skill, make a little money, run your first ad, do something you were scared to do, or anything that is a move in a positive direction you should be proud of.
Now I take time to appreciate everything in my life and my business.
When I think back to how far I come I’m truly blown away it’s possible to have this life.
Appreciate the big and small accomplishments because it will keep you charged up to keep pushing to reach your goals.
So that’s my learnings which I have shared and hope this helps you in building your online business
